The beast had the best light meter and frame rate , so it was big but had no vibration unlike FE or FM and most of the roll has such even exposure even on transparency film .The F4s uses AA batteries also no nasty silver oxide hard to get batteries . Good review of the Nikon FE as a good choice for an above aversger 35 mm for beginners. For me the main reason was to have a split prism in both the FE and the FM3a (I think the FM3a is supposed to have a K3 split prism screen natively, but mine didnt). The mirror was locked in the up position. This means that if your scene contains an average range of tones from dark to light, the meter should be relatively accurate. I think the 50mm pancake is similar to the one you shared in the link, but not the same and I have never used the E-series (I think the E-series is of lesser quality than the pancake).
